To join the International Antarctic Institute (IAI) as a member, please follow the procedures below:

1. Review IAI's Member Guide.

2. Fill in an application form and then send it by email to the IAI Secretariat.

3. Wait for approval

Once the membership application form has been received, the IAI Secretariat will send a confirmation email and forward the application to all representatives of the IAI Council. The application will be reviewed and voted on during an IAI Council meeting, which may also be conducted via online meeting or email ballot.

4. Sign a Memorandum of Understanding with IAI

After the application is approved by vote of the IAI Council, the applicant institution’s authorized representative (typically the President or Vice-President in charge) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the IAI, thereby formally becoming an IAI Member.
